Buckwheat came into Illinois Birddog Rescue, Inc with a litter of 6 puppies from Kansas City, MO in the Spring of 2002. Ten days after his arrival he came down with Canine Parvo-virus and almost died. The wonderful vets at the Animal Medical Center of Itasca helped him through his illness and he is as strong as a moose now!
After surviving his illness and bonding so well with Thelmalou, I just couldn't let him be adopted out. He is now a huge part of my rescue group and is a wonderful foster brother to many of the dogs we bring into the rescue. Like his big brother and sister, Buckwheat also competes in Dog Agility and as he was registered with the AKC as a Pointer, he also has his Junior Hunter title.
